I am a technical apprentice, it is a 3 year apprenticeship. My first year I spent at college completing a level 2 and started my level 4 in mechanical engineering. On a day-to-day basis I currently shadow and help trained technicians on bogie overhaul and wheelset overhaul.
I've learnt loads of different skills and how to use different tools and equipment, as before the apprenticeship I didn't have much experience.
I enjoy going to work everyday, everyone is great to get along with.
It has been structured well, a few bumps in the road but nothing that couldn't be resolved.
I have always been welcomed to ask questions and my employer has helped me as best as he can.
I sometimes struggle to receive support from my training provider because of the distance of travel but I can always send an email and they are always happy to help.
My qualifications are based on my job role and I have to carry out tasks providing evidence, which is a good way of learning on the job for me
Last year I attended a charity event, there was two events last year. They are rewarding days and good for networking.
Yes
The company has an amazing future and it's training program is good and full of experienced technicians to learn from.
Not to be afraid of asking questions as they are always welcome.
