I work as a pension administrator for Barnett Waddingham and with this role I have to come into work and check Task Stream and Pen Stream to see what tasks I have for the day such as change of addresses, expression of wishes, current fund values and I will have to complete all tasks before client deadline.
I have learnt many new skills as I have never worked in an office job before because previously I worked in a schuh shop which is different work and different surroundings. At Barnett Waddingham I have learnt how to work better in a team, I have learnt pensions and also how to administrate pensions.
I very much enjoy working for the programme because it offers a lot of support and it offers a good working opportunity to get good quality experience and knowledge to get a job here in the future and gives me employability in the future if I wanted to get another job.
The apprenticeship structure for Barnett Waddingham is very well organised because they had a year of apprentices before my year so they learnt what is good to do and what is not good to do in terms of training and workload. They have changed what to do for my year which helps us progress at a quicker and easier rate
I receive a lot of support from my employer because they very much respect and want us to stay on as they have spent a lot of time and money training us to be the perfect employee so they will give us a lot of support and help to ensure we enjoy it here and can work hard
My training provider offers a lot of support when working towards my qualifications because they highly value us apprentices and they really want the programme to work to show Barnett Waddingham is a good company to work for and that they can do their job of supporting and providing help for us.
My qualification through my training does help me a lot to perform better in my role because they give me sufficient knowledge to be able to understand what I do on a day to day basis and gives me a structure for how I should perform and what is expected of me.
There is many extra curricular activities to get involved at my work as Barnett Waddingham encourages individuality there is many groups and many social activities that employees can partake in after work or during work and I do not go to any of them because I value my time for other activities.
Yes
Barnett Waddingham provides high level of care for us the employee and they really value happiness and motivation. Everyone wants to do well and everyone is kind and friendly and supportive which has made It very easy for me to come out of school and come into a workplace environment.
What helped me when applying to Barnett Waddingham was just being myself, I came in for the interview wearing casual clothes and I even came late but because I called before hand giving them notice they really appreciated that and they also liked my confidence and attitude which is why I was the first applicant they called back to hire.
