I support the delivery team so I create excel spreadsheets and power points to track progress made on various contracts, this includes documenting stakeholders, milestone payments and forecast schedules. I am also responsible for raising purchase requisitions to ensure that payments are made on time to avoid delays in the programme.
I have learnt how to use excel and I have developed my communication skills. I also think my confidence has risen due to frequent conversation with people far more senior than I. My leadership skills have been developed through delegation of tasks during group work at college. My teamwork skills have been developed in the workplace through assisting others to get their task completed.
Some days I love going to work, my day is packed with meetings and events to attend, giving me a feeling of importance. Other days when there is little work to do my day passes slowly I don't enjoy the programme as much, however my colleagues both in the office and on the apprenticeship are always friendly. At times the college work is dry but it is to be expected.
Our programme is well structured, attending college 1 day a week with regular review sessions with our early careers team and line managers. We are given a calendar with all key college dates on at the start of each semester. We have to fill out matrixes to ensure we are hitting key competencies and other forms to track progress.
We receive a lot of support from our employer, if there is something bothering us in our placement then we are moved quickly without any hassle. We have a review every 12 weeks to discuss our progress in our placement however we also are able to discuss our personal safety and other issues that may be bothering us.
We receive good support from our training provider on the whole. At times further clarification and assistance would be desired, particularly for other students like myself who have come straight from college rather than already experiencing university, but they're generally good at answering questions, reply quickly to emails and respond well to our feedback.
My qualification is helpful with my role as the classes involve sharing your ideas with the group, similarly to what occurs at work. The information we learn is also relevant to our role, particularly our work towards the AMP exam where we learn about project lifecycles and stakeholder management. Currently my college assignment to create a PMP is mirroring the structure of the PMP I am creating at work.
We have attended project management roadshows at work and listed to talks about addiction, safe driving ad wellbeing. There is some apprentice sport events that are offered on Friday including football or netball tournaments. . A book club is currently in development which I am excited to join. I am a member of the inspiring women society so we can attend various talks and discussions on female progression in the business.

An apprenticeship with BAE enables the individual to grow as a person. The early careers team helped make the transition from college life to working life easier which is a big positive. The scheme is well organised with excellent support networks. We are given freedom to look after our own career and work packages while also having people to fall back on.
Just be yourself. There is no point creating a fake persona through online applications as this will become clear at interview. Try to emphasise your key qualities such as leadership and teamwork but make sure you provide detailed examples of how you gained or used this skill. Show that you are willing to listen to other people point of view and accept that sometimes your idea isn't always the best one.
