Absolutley, As part of my role within the workplace I have developed my communication skills (both written and verbal), my awareness (how my work impacts the work of others), my IT skills (The use of excel), SAP and general word processing) as well as my understanding of business and the rational behind key buisness decisons
I really enjoy the programme, due to the inspiring/knowledgable people I work with and the wide variety of work/projects i undertake. The complexity of the tasks undertaken and the constant learning jouney I am on is really interesting too. I know who to ask for help I am treated equally and given ample opportunity to contribute
The introduction to the company could have been handled better, this was not helped by transition of staff. Training is generally well supported, college courses are fully organised. Mentoring system depends on the department. Meetings with key early careers staff occur from time to time and are helpful. Generally the programme is well organised but there are room for improvements.
My manager gives me help and guidance whenever required. The HR team is able to support on issues that relate to them. The team i work with always offer their support and will give support even when I know they are busy! If I have a problem and I don't know the best way to sort it, a member of the team I work with are able to provide guidance.
Unfortunatley, for the duaration of the apprenticeship so far (which is not long), the training provider's service has been fairly poor. For the last few months, the assessed work (assignments) have been not distrubuted well and not much feedback has been given. This means a significant portion of the work has been handed back later than it should have been. This causes undue stress and worry for students.
To be honest, the links between what I learn at college and what I do at work are poor. There are very few concepts I learn at college and can relate to the workplace. However, completing all my qualifications now and in the future will give me a good base understanding that I would have missed if I had gone to university and not taken on an apprenticeship.
Yes, there are many clubs and societies to join in and around work. The sports facilty onsite allows for fitness classes, football etc. Throughout the year, the early careers team organise visits to other sites, for tours and training courses. Also, there are regular charity events, including sponsored walks, bike rides and coffee mornings. I

I have enjoyed my apprenticeship so far due to many factors. I have found the staff at BAE systems to be very helpful and enjoy helping out where they can. Also, the range of projects that BAE covers gives plenty of scope for development and learning. The culture promotes safety and encouarges everyone to contrbute and give thier best.
It is important to give plenty of time to complete the application forms in. Include the most relevant of information (qualifications and experience). For the interview, dress appropriately (i.e smart) and be confident. Also, it is good if you ask questions about the role as this shows that you are interested and willing to find out more information for yourself.
