Working with engineers to produce project deliverables, as well as coordinate with other technicians on the latest BIM updates and invcluding that in our 3D modelling work.
I had never worked with modelling software before, so working at ARUP has greatly improved my modelling ability, plus I am much better at communicating in a team setting as well as meeting dealdines.
The programme is tough, but the content is enjoyable. Plus, going to unnversity with a number of people feels less daunting as we all work together in revision sessions at work/during our frees at university.
It could be better: we do not get much revision time and the company are not empathetic about the time it takes to study for a test.
Whilst we do get days off, it is one per exam which is unsatisfactory. However, they have set up in house tutoring for those doing level 6 apprenticeships, so the do offer some support.
Not very much: from my experience, managers/mentors do not fully grasp the time is takes to study for an engineering exam, so you do have to 'fight your corner' when it ocmes ot revision time.
We hold monthly technician meetings, so we get together to discuss the laest advancements in BIM to see how we can adpot this into our own work.
There are sports teams, plus people are encouraged to get involved in compeitions e.g. merit competitions, so they do try and promote oppourtunities to network. Plus, they hold a luncht o encourge different grades to interact.
No
Not enough support with the level 6 and a backwards way of management.
