Apprentice Site Manager Review

Every day can be different, resulting in having a wide range of diverse tasks to be carried out. Currently with my project which is next to Wembley Stadium It is on its final stages of the project where a lot of work being carried out is internal. My daily tasks would see me over seeing trades and general operatives whilst they complete their snags that I or other site managers have picked up from before hand ahead of this weeks inspection. I would also enforce health and safety regulations on site ensuring the work space is kept a safe environment.

I have only been doing m apprenticeship for nearly 5 months now and have learnt lots of new skills and develop my existing skills as well. The most important one to me is communicating, I have had to be in contact with many different people so far, and making sure I am polite and listen well ensures I can build up a good relationship with people. Teamwork, to ensure the construction project is completed on time and in the best possible condition, it can not be completed by one person, but lots of different people all there to work together to ensure the work is done. I have always been an outgoing person, and being on this programme has made be come out my shell even more. This has been achieved by knowing that my voice matters.

I am really enjoying my programme so far as it has exceeded by expectations already with me learning so much information regarding the construction industry that I never thought I would. The block release at college provides enough time for me to complete any college work that needs to be doing and achieving a qualification that correlates to my job.

The programme is structed very well with me being on site 3 weeks per month, and 1 week of the month at college. It gives me enough time to ensure my college work is completed on time and allows me to use the information I have learnt at college on the site.

I reive full support from my employer as they have invested a lot in to my training like my level 4 qualification I am currently doing which is an HNC in construction and my level 4 NVQ. Knowing I am looked after and thought about I am comfortable at work and knowing I can push myself with the help of the company to be the best I can at my job.

From the college I attended 1 week per month I receive excellent teaching for my level 4 HNC and NVQ qualification. They understand our rile day to day to them having a construction background and from this can relate the assignments to real life scenarios. These can make the question easier to understand.

The information I am taught in class covers all aspects of a construction project from the groundworks to the regulations in construction. A lot of the information can aid me in my job role on site as I have the knowledge to hand that I have been taught from my college course.

Every Wednesday there is a football game that takes place across the way from my project on 3G astro pitches. We usually have annual parties for Christmas and handovers of certain parts of the project. We tend to be offered new training courses so we can be fully qualified.

My advice would be, be confident in your ability. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there. Be honest and truthful to them to ensure you come across well and you know what you are talking about. Have goals for the future so you can link this to the company and show how you can achieve these by working for the company and the benefit they get from this.
