I am training to become a qualified designer, currently I am in college five days a week doing a level 3 diploma in manufacturing engineering. My day consists of a mixtures of lectures and assignment work with two days workshop training.
I have learnt a variety of new skills and improved on existing skills. In the classroom my maths skills have improved after a few years out of education and I am confident in my abilities. In the workshop I am learning about safety and how to preform tasks to standards.
I enjoy my program but I am looking forward to starting work properly and learning first hand off the job rather than theory and book work. I think there is lots of support in place and look forward to continuing to learn and improve.
My apprenticeship is very structured with 12 week reviews and support from my managers. I know what is expected of me and am supported fully in work and outside of work.
I receive lots of support from my employer
I receive lots of support
I think it’s important but I’m not sure how relevant it is to my role as I have no first hand experience of my role until I start work properly in July
I’m not aware of these events yet
Yes
Because I am enjoying my time on the programme and hope to have a successful job at the end of my apprenticeship.
Don’t be put off if you don’t get in first time, it’s worth it.
