I attended furness college to study electrical engineering as an apprentice. Here i do practical assessments in the light box (electrical workshop) three days a week with our tutor. On the other two days of the week we work we study electrical principles, legislations and standards, health and safety and electrical theory.
The previous year i attended furness college and studied level 2 electrical engineering and so i already had a basic set of skills for practical and electrical understanding. From being on this apprenticeship i have built on my pre-existing skills greatly and have a better understanding on electrical practical skills and a better understanding of electrical theory.
I really enjoy my apprenticeship that i am on at the minute. I can easily build on my already attained skills and i enjoy working with my colleges in the workshop and class room. I enjoy working with the tutors and i am not afraid to ask for help if needed as the tutors are very kind and willing to help.
Our program is structured very well with good time for all the different lesson and practical assignments. Our lessons are well spread out and we are given the correct amount of work for the lesson so that we are busy but not over worked. We are also told exactly what is happening in our apprenticeship.
We receive a good amount of support from our employer. It is easy to get in touch with them and discuss and problems that we may be having and then they come to the best solution to resolve them. We do a review with our employer every twelve weeks where they can check how we are doing in the course.
We are provided with all the support we require. Our training providers ensure we are all on target to meet our qualification requirements. If there are any questions that I may have about my course then I know who I can talk to about it and I know that they will happily help.
I definitely feel that my qualification helps me to perform better in my role. I feel that the qualification helps me understand my role more and helps me to understand the specifics around my role. Having this qualification allows me to perform better within my role as it provides me with the skills to perform better.
Within BAE there are extra-curricular activities to participate in. I do not partake in these activities however. At the moment there is a student council who aim to get more and more extra curricular activities. Throughout the rest of my apprenticeship I know that there will be more activities that present themselves.

I believe the BAE apprenticeship that I am on is an amazing experience and learning opportunitie with the front of our nations defense. BAE offer an amazing career in many different areas of expertise. BAE offers an exciting career where you can learn about your trade in a fun hand on experience.
If I was to give advice or another person applying I would say for them to do prior research into the company. I would explain to them that they need to make themselves stand out (what separates you from the rest of the candidates) and lastly I would say for them to be confident.
