My role is to work with my customers on a day to day basis and to help them with their IT and technological needs. I also look to prospect and generate new business for Softcat. Whilst doing all of this I must ensure that I am hitting both my GP target and KPI’s that have been set to me by my managers. I also liaise with distributors, vendors and a vast array of internal resource to help me fill my customers requirements.
I have learnt so many new skills and attributes since joining Softcat. The skills that have stood out the most are my people / relationship building skills as I feel so much more confident reaching out to people that I normally wouldn’t speak to and form good relations with these people.
I think that this programme has been excellent from the very first day. Between apprentices we have formed friendships that will last a lifetime and have spent a week, courtesy of Softcat, in the Lake District in order to get to know each other better. We have monthly training session with an external mentor that provides us with really useful tips and tricks towards daily challenges.
My apprentice programme is very well structured in my opinion. Every month we have a organised schedule sent out for our training and other apprentice events. Which helps keeps us up to date and on top of our schedule. The programme is also very relevant to our day job and help learn constantly.
I believe that I receive a sufficient amount of support in order for me to develop as a professional and also to complete my day to day job easily. If there is anything in which I don’t want to speak to my direct team there are a number of people in which I can reach out to for additional support.
Remit our training provider offer very good support when it comes down to the qualification. Russell our main point of contact at Remit is always at the other end of the phone or of an email no matter what time of day to help with any questions that you may have surrounding anything, not just the qualification.
I feel that it helps me massively, not just improving my sales skills but also by improving my knowledge in many different areas that help me look much more credible and professional when not only speaking to customers but also which my colleagues here at Softcat. This makes me perform better and helps me reach my targets.
There are so many activities both inside and outside of work hours that are available workers here at Softcat. From running clubs at lunch time to quiz nights in the week there are so many activities and clubs that you can get involved with at Softcat and it is so easy to meet new people and get involved.
Yes
I would recommend Softcat to a friend as it is just a great place to work from the people to the culture it is unbeatable. The earning potentials are huge and the career development is something that you don’t get at other firms. I believe that a career at Softcat is a once in a lifetime opportunity that anyone should take.
Be yourself and be totally honest. Don’t try and be someone you are not because being who you are is what will get you the job if you are right fit. Be fun, honest, responsible and intelligent and that way you will fit in exactly with Softcat values and culture.
