  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day role is to be the point of contact for my customers and to do jobs such as cold calling/warm calling, quotes, emails. I also target accounts to contact. We also go out on customer meetings to get to know them and to open new opportunities.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt presentation skills and people skills. The job has taught me that you don’t have to be technical when talking to customers and we have specialists available to help. It has helped me to develop my existing skills such as time management as they offer training on how to structure your day and get everything needed done.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the program as you feel part of the team and everyone is really welcoming. Also the culture of the company encourages you to reach your targets and personal goals. Working for Softcat exceeds my expectations as it was a lot more welcoming than i thought it was going to be but also there is never a dull moment at Softcat.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction was very well structured and taught us everything we needed to know before going onto the sales floor. There is training available on everything on a regular basis and everyone is happy to go back over with you if you had any questions or queries. There is also support available whenever you need it from the learning and development.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my manager, we have weekly one to ones and i know that i can always go to them whether it is a personal matter or work related. The whole of my team always are available to support me if i ever have a question they are easy to approach.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I know that no matter what i can go to my training provider if i have a question and they will spend the time to help me and talk it all through with me. I really enjoy the days that my training provider comes in as I know that it will be a fun day and a helpful day to help me Develop more in myself and my job role.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Everything i have learnt within the company through my training provider has helped me in my role as it has taught me the skills needed to complete my day to day tasks easily. It has taught me that can do more than i thought which has helped me in my job role as it has made me feel more confident and like i can achieve the tasks.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have team nights out every couple of months. We also have something called love to volunteer, which is when you get two days a year to leave the office and go to one of the volunteering days planned. These sometimes include food banks or care homes or even schools.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I think that it is a very fun company to work for, As there is a great culture and it makes you want to come to work and succeed everyday. It is the best company to work at as they are constantly encouraging you to become the best you can.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
  • DO IT! You wouldn’t regret it. I used to work in a different company and nothing compares to working at Softcat. Working at Softcat will make you want to come to work and the culture encourages you to work hard. The flexible working hours are very beneficial for many people as they go through different stages of life.
