For my role I work within the automation team on projects where i have to use coding languages in order to create applications for other teams in the workplace. If i am not working on a project in the workplace i would be taking tasks on how to alter current applications and make them better if possible
One of the main skills i have learnt is being able to code. I have learnt a few coding languages such as python which i can use in order to make applications for the business. I also managed to develop skills such as planning and organising when i have had to plan out how to approach projects and what tasks to complete
I enjoy my programme because i have learnt a lot of new methods and skills during my time working as an apprentice for Softcat. The programme also has a lot of variety and fun activities for us to take part in such as the apprentice kick-offs we have every quarter.
Our programme is very well structured since every month we have group meetings with remit to cover content we have to learn as well as 121's which we have with remit coaches to help us if we require help. We also have an overview of KPI's and other targets covered during the apprentice kick-off so we know what we are going to be working on next
In terms of the support I receive from my employer, I receive a lot of support since we have 121's with our managers as well as our apprentice manager that can help us if we require any help with our work or our apprentice coursework. And then we also get support from remit alongside this which is very helpful
In terms of receiving support from our training providers, Remit can be very helpful since they also have 121's with the apprentices to aid with any coursework we are struggling with. We also have group meetings with Remit and the other apprentices where they cover content that can go towards our qualifications.
My qualification will help me to perform better in my role as I would have experience and will understand the admin role a lot better and what is required. This could also benefit me if i move into any admin roles in the future as i would have a good idea of what is going on and what i would have to do.
There are many extra-curricular activities that you can get involved in for Softcat. For example there is a Softcat football/rugby team which people can participate in. There are also charity events hosted by "Love2Volunteer" which employees can get involved in. As well as this we had a trip for us apprentices to the lake district for "OutWard Bound" where we would participate in a number of activities.
Yes
The reason why i would recommend softcat to a friend is because not only does it have a good working environment but everyone is very friendly and kind to everyone. Therefore if you are ever struggling you could always ask everyone since they are more than happy to help you
One of the tips i would give to others applying to softcat would be to prepare to work hard. This is because although Softcat has a very positive working environment then often reward employees who work the hardest. Therefore if you work hard you are likely to get rewarded even more.
