  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Here at Softcat as an sales apprentice, you are tasked with various different challenges and responsibilities, your day to day role will consist of cold calling accounts trying to crack into various businesses and trying to gain theirs. We strive on our account management and customer relationships and gaining customer trust.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Getting pushed out of your comfort zone is one of the main things that you get tested on while working at Softcat, they support you in being able to move out comfort zone and trying new things that you are not usually doing within the working environment, i think this is an incredible way to become successful and Softcat are really good and innovative around this

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Softcat are the only apprenticeship that offer a cross programme project, to add to that the remit (our training provider) they offer a unique training platform that allows us to become the best sales apprentice as we can be, Softcat host a extremely good support platform for our training platform so that we can be supported throughout out training programme

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Our programme is extremely organised and organised as we have all of our sessions booked in via our Callander so we know exactly when our sessions are on exact dates and we also have included all of our learning objectives included this is so that we can come prepared for all of our sessions

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • At Softcat they have a high level of support that they offer for the whole of the business, my apprentice manager supports me on an one to one basis, this happens weekly. This allows me to express any concerns that i may have or any help that i may need

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I believe i get a lot of support from my colleagues around me and also my training provider, this will be through, helping me with my coursework, or with various sales techniques when calling on the phone, my colleagues also help me if i have any questions generally about business

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I fell the the qualification that the training provider provides will help me in my role due to the fact that it will get ready my rookie year, making sure that i am ready for all of the challenges that come up, weather that be through various sales issues or business issues

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Softcat offer various extra curricular activities that are both inside and outside work, these can range from social activities such as team nights out. Or internal activities such as vendor activities, Softcat also offer after work football, where we get spilt into teams and get to know different people from different sections of the business

  • Yes

  • I think Softcat is an extremely sociable place to work, they offer a wide range of jobs to different people in different areas, they have an extremely good apprentice programme which anyone would be inclined to apply for, i honestly could not be pleased to be working with Softcat apprentices scheme


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
  • The advice i would give to anyone who is thinking of applying for the Softcat apprenticeship scheme, would be to come in with an open mind, Softcat are such a ever growing business and there is always something positive going on within the offices, so if you have an open mind and are open to trying new things then you will fit in perfectly at Softcat
