  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I started my Sales Apprenticeship at Softcat in September 2019 after I had finished my A-levels. Softcat has provided me with not just a career but the skills and assets which I need in order to thrive. As a sales apprentice , my day usually includes cold calling, chasing emails and building a client base.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to communicate affectively with my colleagues and client base in order to develop relationships for future sales opportunities and gain More knowledge of what Softcat can provide. As well, I have extended my vocabulary and knowledge in IT sales which has enabled me to capture sales.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme. As a whole, I feel it is amazing for everyone! The training has been incredible with extra support from remit and our sales managers. As well, there are plenty of new opportunities and ways to expand and move in the business. This is a bonus and very helpful.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very well organised with meetings every week to catch up with your manager about your progression on the course. As well, you are able to work through natural training and technical training to ensure that you are gaining as much knowledge as possible to place into your sales.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support through Softcat as they can offer lots of ways to help. Wether it is help with your mental health or wanting to move roles etc. Softcat are very helpful with ensuring that you are as happy as you can be in your role. If not there are chances to move and develop more in Softcat.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Softcat has been extremely helpful when it comes to striving towards your goals and enabling that you are fulfilling the qualifications that you aim to achieve. For example , Softcat needs basic maths and English GCSE however softcat provides you with extra help to enable you pass this as soon as you can for your future.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Remit really helps in many ways. Sales training helps us develop skills to put in live face to face scenarios. This prepares us to be the best we can be when in a sales scenario. Technical training also helps to gain a better understanding of the complex elements of the it we are selling

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are, the social activities include professional networking events. For example I was able to travel to the London office with veritas and have a team incentive with them. As well , I have a trip coming up to Poland with my team for winning the most amount of opps in a day.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would defiantly recommend Softcat to a friend as I feel for people who either go to uni or do not , it is a brilliant opportunity as can bring out all the best in you. It as well gives you life experience which is valid for real life scenarios in the future.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
  • My advice would be to always stay motivated and driven as hard work leads to success and drive. As well , try to focus on you but as well do network within softcat to gain as much advice as possible from people who have even more experience than you on a day to day basis.
