  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role varies on a day to day basis. I go between work that involves valuations, agency and consultancy which each have different jobs such as due diligence, creating schedules and helping with marketing. As my time here has gone on, i have been more involved in some of the complex and long term work such as completing reports and helping other team members with their work. I also have regular interactions with clients that are most commonly on the phone or over email.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The main skills i think i have developed the most is my public speaking. As i had just come from school, finishing A-Levels, i had not had that much experience with extremely large groups of people or those people who are influential and could be important to not only the team but also the company as a whole. I have also learnt many new skills such as calculations, writing reports and networking. I have also developed my word and excel skills that i shall continue to develop over the coming years.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • At this current stage i am really enjoying my programme. I am finding a good balance between the work at the company and my university work as well as finding down time to myself. I enjoy the social interactions it has brought as well as the constant learning each and every day. Although this is as new to me as it is to my team, we are working cohesively and coming up with solutions to support any problems that we may occur. There has been a good balance of trust and respect since i started and throughout my apprenticeship so far.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that my programme is well structured however there are still some improvements to be made. It was relatively well organised from the moment i had my first interview. It was clear from the beginning what the apprenticeship would entail as well as other details about the programme such as how long it will be, what qualifications i will obtain and the development and future path i could have. I do feel that could be some minor improvements with regards to the information that is given to our line managers so it is set our clearly for everyone and there is no confusion or misunderstanding once the apprenticeship has started.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have a vast amount of support from several different people on several different levels. Not only do i have my managers support, i also have my team and office's support. In addition to that i have also got support from other apprentices (new and existing) as well as the apprenticeship coordinates and the staff and my university too. This includes my apprenticeship outcomes officers and module leaders too.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I find there is ample support from my training provider as there is easy access to the module leaders and their advisers and those that work with them. there are also several group chats between the students to discuss the modules and work set. The majority of webinars are clear and descriptive and the reading is beneficial. I also can receive regular support from my apprentice outcomes officer in my reviews where i can raise any problems that i may have.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • At the beginning of the apprenticeship i did not see any direct links between my degree and apprenticeship but i understood that it was the foundation and base knowledge that i needed to be able to progress through my career and my degree. As time has gone on, i have been able to make more links between the course and the work placement and i have been able to refer to certain readings and incorporate the information into conversation with colleagues at work.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Savills for several reasons starting with the culture. It is supportive and equal across all the regions and offices which makes it a positive work environment to be in. There is a high level of trust as well as professionalism and it allows you to actually get stuck in with the work and not feel like you are the odd one out. You get to engage in a range of activities and events and groups within the company whilst learning on the job and completing a degree which is also fully supported.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
  • Make sure you research the field you are going in to. it is key to be able to talk about the sectors to show that you are inquisitive and willing to learn even if it is something you have never done before. You should also make a note of the deadline as sometimes there are questions that you have to answer and they do need a bit of thought before answering them. Knowing the deadline is key so you are not trying to rush last minute!
