My role based in the factory is Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance, however I am currently only in my first year of training, where I am covering Electrical, Hand Fitting, Milling, Turning, Welding, H&S, CAD/CAM, Mechanical Principles & Assembly, MM & I & Mathematics.
I have developed my knowledge in mathematics and CAD/CAM and have learnt all the above new skills. I have furthered my team building and communication skills and progressed in confidence.
I am thoroughly enjoying my time at college and day release. Everyone is friendly, helpful and they all encourage an eagerness to learn. Not only have I been taught the relevant skills I require for my role, but BAE have also given me the opportunity to learn other engineering skills.
I feel the programme is very well structured and organised. The training offered by TDR is planned on a week to week basis, a section at a time, which makes it easier to learn.
I feel very grateful for the support network offered at BAE Systems. I receive regular contact and follow ups regarding both my training and well being.
The lecturers at TDR encourage you to learn and achieve the highest grades possible. Regular feedback is given so improvements can easily be made. All staff look to develop you to the best of you ability.
The qualifications provided at TDR cover all bases of engineering, which will help me understand how to maintain and fix problems when I am at the workplace.
The company offers several external activities, so far I have only been involved in presentations to help promote the company. Being with the business only a short while, I have not fully explored all the activities and events the company have to offer, but hope too in the future.
