At Engie I am classed as an IT Analyst and I work on a IT Service Desk as a first line corporate support agent. This means that I help Engies staff with IT queries and issues from password resets to network issues. I am the first point of contact of the service desk along with other first line analysts within the IT Service Desk.
I have learned a lot of skills within my time at Engie, the majority being on the job knowledge with Engies systems and how they work and how they are fixed the majority of the time. I also spend time at a college gaining knowledge to pass my MTA exams that will help me progress throughout my career.
I enjoy my programme a lot, I enjoy being on the service desk with fellow colleagues and find that the environment is productive but also very entertaining. At times it can be boring it generally depends on the calls i get. However in total i enjoy it a lot. :)
I believe that my programme has been structured well from Engies side however could have been better from the apprenticeship provider as there was a switch between then recently. I am looking forward to meeting the new providers and seeing what they have to offer compared to the old ones.
I believe that my employer provides a lot of support from helping me learn more about my role to how i can progress throughout my career. They do this by providing me with numerous training opportunities throughout the week. These can range from sitting with colleagues to entire new departments and learning their roles.
From the old provider i received a lot of support whilst i was in the class as my teacher was brilliant however their at work support was on the down side which lead to Engie switching to the new provider and i have not experienced their version yet so i cant say.
I believe that the topics that i have went through within my programme have helped me progress in my role at engie as the support i provide includes a lot of infrastructure tech support such as operating systems and networking. I also believe that the MTA exams are very related to my job role.
Yes, there is extra activities that i could take part in however i chose not to. I do plan to do our departments social events such as christmas party however i was too busy when the last one happened. We also have lots of other activities within our teams such as bold and demanding.
Yes
I believe that engie is a good company that will allow you to start a career straight from school to whatever you desire, your managers will allow you to shadow another member in a different department that you may want to move to in the future. This will also help you with experience if you come to apply for that role in the future.
I believe that you should take as much in as possible from your colleagues as they are full of advice that will help you get through your day to day job and they are also very friendly people. Also bring food for lunch as greggs gets boring and EAT@ is expensive.
