  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt more about how to develop myself, my own learning styles and how to adapt to others within my team. I have also learnt more about where to seek help when I need it. I have developed my health and safety skills especially within the Woodland Burial ground and I have definitely developed my communication skills giving me confidence to handle complaints and queries.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy most of my apprenticeship workshops but not so much the out of hours learning as I struggle to fit it in to work time, as I am only part time. I feel this then builds up and I start panicking over it and it becomes a bit of a burden.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel the work shops are very well organised and the course is structured well but I feel I still don’t really get what I’m supposed to be doing sometimes outside the workshops, therefore I feel sometimes that I am a bit unorganised with it and behind a bit.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very supportive with me and will help me whenever I need it. My coach is also very supportive with me and offers me any additional support I need. Sometimes it’s just finding the time to fit it in and taking it home is sometimes best where it’s quiet.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • All the support I need from my training provider is there when I need it via email, telephone or face to face meetings. Anytime I need answers he helps me along the way and is really good. We have review every six weeks to see how I am progressing too.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification helps me perform better in my role as it has given me more skills and more confidence when dealing with the bereaved family’s. It has also provided me with the knowledge of getting to know myself and everyone around me, different personalities and how to work with them in a positive way and get the best out of them.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of community activities that we get involved in through the Co-Op but I’m not to sure about sports teams......I’m not very sporty anyway so I’d rather not!! We are starting to run bereavement groups/coffee mornings which we are hoping will become very sociable for both our staff and our families.
