  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Project Accounting Role- journals, billable lines, CSR's, SSR's, working cross functionally with the project managers and commercial teams etc., working across a variety of projects to provide give me a well rounded knowledge of the role.

  • communication, confidence, problem solving, teamwork, business acumen, adaptability

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the balance of work and study, moving around different areas of the finance function gives me a well rounded knowledge. The only downside is that as it is a new apprenticeship, any questions that we have take too long to answer (i.e. failing exams/salary etc.)

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Fairly well structured- again as a new apprenticeship, getting dates for our study blocks etc when we first started was a bit of a nightmare as they were still coming to grips with how/when we were going to do our study etc.

  • there is a lot of support options available- mentors, buddy's, placement managers, scheme leads, skills coach etc.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A lot - we are provided with everything we need to pass our exams (textbooks/ practice questions/ online videos/ email a tutor etc.)

  • Yes they complement each other really well

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes - National Apprenticeship week, outward bound trip, apprentice councils, STEM ambassador activities

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Employee benefits such as salary/holidays/flexible working/work life balance. Earning while you learn and there's no obligation to stay at the end of your apprenticeship (i.e. you don't have to pay anything back towards your qualification).


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • research the company values, include lots of examples, be yourself.
