  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am an IT Service Desk Analyst. My job is to take inbound calls from other ENGIE employees to help resolve their IT issues/queries. This can be anything from a simple password reset to a site network being down. During quiet periods I also make outbound calls to resolve tickets in my personal queue or those that user's have logged themselves in the Self Service Portal.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • When I first started at ENGIE I did have some technical knowledge but not as much as I do now. Through working at ENGIE I was able to earn whilst I learn. I've also gained a lot of communications skills as I am required to communicate with users over the phone clearly every day.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the program because it allows me to earn whilst I learn. I learn best when I actually do the task at hand which meant an apprenticeship was the best option for me. It's helped me learn a lot of knowledge and skills in quite a short space of time.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well structured. I have monthly reviews with my skills coach where we go over my coursework. We also set targets and target dates for the next review that we have. This allows me to manage my time effectively and complete work on time for the next review.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • ENGIE has been very supportive throughout my programme. In times when my coursework workload was very high they've allowed me to take time off the phones to catch up on any work that I was behind on. They've also been supportive in assisting with coursework to help me gather evidence that I needed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive quite a bit of support from my training provider. I have a monthly review with my skills coach every month where we go over my coursework and also set targets for the next review. They check over all my work and makes sure I'm on track and don't miss deadlines.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think my qualification helps a lot with my job role. The training courses that I complete at QA help me gain knowledge that I can use to help when I troubleshoot user issues when they call up. For example when I have network related issues the networking course I did helps with this.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a number of extra curricular activities that go on at work. Everyone at ENGIE is assigned a house. We can take part in extra curricular activities to help gain points for our house. There are also a number of social activities such as trips to York and team nights out.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Equans to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend a Engie to a friend because I think it's a great employer to work for. The enrolment process is quick and easy and everyone is very supportive. Engie has a great culture which makes it an enjoyable place to work. There are plenty of opportunities to progress your career

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Equans?
  • If you are going to apply for a job at Engie make sure you do your research first. Familiarise yourself with the four behaviours as these are very important at Engie. All four behaviours can be found in the ENGIE website so it's a good idea to do your research on these before you apply.
