Working closely with the Real Estate Underwriters on renewal and new business quotes, working up policy documentation and review documents in order for the underwriter to finalise premiums, and also processing premiums etc on our financial systems.
The apprenticeship has helped me expand my knowledge in general insurance, not just underwriting/operations, but also claims etc, and also helped me learn about the different regulations and bodies within the industry.
I thoroughly enjoy the programme and it will definitely benefit me long-term within my current role or any other roles I may secure.
The programme is fairly well organised. I have regular contact with my tutor and know exactly what I need to revise each week in order for me to have the best possible chance of passing my exams. There is a few different documents I have to keep updated alongside doing my revision, i think this could possibly be a bit more streamlined so there is one central document.
I receive adequate support from my employer as and when needed, and I am comfortable that I can ask for help any time that I need it.
I receive adequate support from Kaplan when working towards my qualification, as mentioned, I have regular catch ups with my tutor and always know exactly where I am at in terms of my progress.
The course has helped me to understand general insurance more clearly and I can have a better understanding when I hear different terminologies etc within my daily role, whether that be when I am on the phone to a broker, or speaking with one of the underwriters.
There is various different team/charity events that You can get involved in which help you network with your internal colleagues. There is also different events and things I can get involved in that help me network with other areas of the business, i.e. Real Estate property survey days.
