my role in the business is a fabrication engineer apprentice. the overview of the apprenticeship is to learn the trade of a fabricator in a maritime defence role. I get given daily tasks of a practical job such as a job pack which will consist of drawings on what to do such as marking cutting grinding and so one to complete the job.
I have learnt many new skills with in the business just in my first year of the apprenticeship such as welding, sheet metal work, plate work, gas cutting and abrasive wheels. I have developed existing skills such as my self confidence and been able to work with a team in adaptive situations.
i enjoy the programme very highly due to been working one project that provide to the defence of the country and the nations interests. I enjoy working on billion pound projects that provide for the current and future of the royal navy and customers. I enjoy that there is a lot of practical hands on jobs that come with the theory to back it.
I believe that the programme is well organised down to the highly trained instructors and members of staff the courses is broken down into 4 years where the first one is you learning your tools and knowledge and understanding 2-3 is building up your portfolio and experience. 4 year is your end point assessment

I have been in my apprenticeship for 1 year and 5 months and I feel that the support I receive from my employer is the right amount when it is needed however they like you to think of the solutions when needed and will guide you in the right way.

I feel that my qualification through my provider helps me to perform better in my role by given me the advise when needed but also letting me read drawings and actually doing the job by myself rather then the mentor do the job and I watch I believe this will help me as its getting hands on training
there are extra curricular activities to get involved in at work for example out of bounds which is a week away in the lake district which involves team building skills and activities. they also had a royal navy challenge that was given to teams with a certain challenge that helped with team building.
Yes

the tips and advice I would give to others applying to BAE Systems is to have a passion for engineering and hands on work within the business. to know of what projects they are currently involved in. to show some experience in a practical subject at school or collage maybe
