Apprentice steelworker currently learning the requirements (pe02 and NC) to progress to my 2nd year. 1st year is a college based course. 2nd year will be in the shipyard
I have learned how to weld with MIG and MMA welding gear as well as further my fabricating skills with course assessments. I have undergone class learning to gain a better understanding of the work I do and the terminology behind it.
My apprenticeship is something I was very eager to get into and was over the moon to be accepted so I enjoy every aspect of the work being done as I know it is helping me to hopefully become a fully trained welder/fabricator
Reasonably well structured. Time table works as well as it can however I also feel alot of college time is wasted where we could be working and progressing
My employer works with my training provider in order to take any specific requests of individuals and does their best to meet the requests.
I have everything I feel I need to pass my assessments and progress.
I feel getting the practice in a non critical environment is the best option while also learning the knowledge. However I'm now at the stage where I feel to progress quicker, real time in the yard would be most beneficial.
