On a day - to - day basis, I am in a client facing role looking after the delivery of projects that are key to the nuclear industries development. This involves, scheduling, budgeting, managing risk and looking after a team from an hour booking and cost perspective.
I have been able to develop my confidence within the work place and also build upon skills that I have previously obtains. I have been able to grow my awareness and knowledge of the industry and also what it takes to be a project manager.
I would highly recommend Cavendish Nuclear as an apprenticeship employer, the experience and opportunities that I have been given are second to none. This has enabled me to toughly enjoy my scheme so far.
The scheme that I am on allows for structured placements to be obtained on a 3 - 6 monthly basis. This gives me exposure to many aspects of the business which allows for better development through the scheme.
There is a lot of support from all areas of the business, key stakeholders of the schemes sit in very senior role so visibility of what goes on spans across all levels.
Training provider support tends to be relevant to the course and the course only, this includes meeting within the work place on an 8 weekly basis.
It is great to get the theoretical knowledge, that lies behind the practical works that are conducted in my day to day role. This helps by giving an appreciation of process and the inner working of project life.
Cavendish has a series of networks that can be joined, these include the Youth Voice Network, Allies Network, Pride Network, Women in Nuclear Network and Disability Network. All of these are open for volunteers, along with the opportunity to get involved in STEM events.
Yes
The support is second to none and the development opportunities are amazing. Cavendish Nuclear is part of Babcock so their are many doors that can be opened from working for Cavendish Nuclear, within the business and the wider group.
Don't be afraid to ask questions and make sure that you sell yourself and your values as much as you can in an interview to make a positive, lasting impression.
