  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently training to be a Refit Project Manager. I go to different stores around the north and refit them to existing spec and also maintain the estate. Everyday is different and I get to see a range of stores and meet various contractors.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt lots of new communication & organisation skills. I have learnt more about the construction and the retail world and building on my knowledge everyday.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love the programme I am on as I get to rotate around all the property teams to get a better understanding of what they do. It is great that I get to see the construction side of things as well as Retail knowledge.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My 2 year programme has been structured really well. I get to rotate around the different teams in 6 months & 4 weeks blocks. I also get 20% of my week to study for my APM Project Management qualification.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received lots of support from everyone in the business. No matter how high up people are in the company, they always offer to help. I also have been given a buddy in each team who helps me on the different rotations, this has been fantastic.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider is BPP. I have a coach who helps me through each assignment and is always available to contact. I also have webinars that help me to understand the content in more detail, this is ideal as I can watch them back whenever I want.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My APM qualification has helped me in my role as I am putting my learning to practice. I have learnt lots of new ways of working that I have used while working.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of different activity's to do at the Co-op. I get a weekly email explaining the different activity's that are happening.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Co-op to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I have gained so much experience at the Co-op and have met so many new people. The company is great with my learning side and they constantly push for me to do the best I can do. There is also so much support available.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • Be yourself and don't worry about not having as much experience as others.
