I am currently at college, working towards electronic and electrical units. this will help me when I go out onto site so that I have the theory behind the site work I will be doing. I study other units like PLCs which will also help me gain the knowledge I need for site work.
I have learned some new skills since I started my apprenticeship. i have learned properly how to wire up a full electrical rig including some isolators which protect the circuit and go into the consumer unit. the rig controls a motor and a lamp alongside a switch for the lamp.
i enjoy my program and it seems to be going well. i am 5 months in and i am consistently learning new skills which i will be able to use later on in my apprenticeship, especially when i get on site. i am sure that i will learn much more in time to come.
the program has set units which we are working through and the company does very well in terms of support. the college does also however as it is the first time my college has done this course there are some communication issues between units. other than this it is good.
my employer is great in terms of the support they provide for us. they help us with any issues that we face and not only that of the work we do. we are supported with an internal review every 8-12 weeks which allows us to reflect on our work and any issues.
our training provider is good at giving us support in college. we face problems some times and the course tutors will help you out to resolve the problem of any nature. they are happy to help and make sure that we have everything we need to perform as we should.
as previously stated, my training that i am receiving with my qualification will help me perform better when i get on site because i will be able to act with my theory knowledge to coincide with my physical work. i look forward to applying these skills and making best use of them.
in our time at college we have already completed a few days worth of extra curricular activities often surrounding team building. this is a benefit because it allows us to select the natural leaders in a group and it showed us what type of individual each person was in the team

Siemens or Siemens Gamesa being the branch I work in, is a great company to work for and they help you get to where you need to be and will help guide you to the right goals and aspirations. they provide a standard of training that is unparalleled in the industry.
Siemens is a large company, you need to know your stuff here. Do the research you need to so that you can fully understand what drives your company towards excellence. look into the specific skills that you think they look for and try to develop these skills and show that you are achieving them.
