I am Team Leader at the Co Op. I am involved on pretty much everything on the daily running of my shop. From legal compliance to dealing with colleagues and customers.
Yes. Specially on the Legal and Governance side of things. Also a greater insight on What's new out there for retail in terms of technology.
Not fully. I had at least 3 different tutors from the start of my programme. And not a great deal of support from the Employer.
The one file is very confusing on how and when we need to submit our work. learning conferences were good but not in sync with the work we were asked to do at home. So the conference speaker was confused as to what he could talk about.
Not much. I am pretty sure the Co Op as whole gives full support. But the department in charge not really. No follow up support and unfortunately see us as a percentage rather than learning individuals. All about hours % versus % of completed work!!
I was without contact from a tutor for 4 months. I went under the radar and it took my Maths tutor to realise this out of the blue. Current tutor is good but still on and off with schedules.
On a personal level I feel more confident at work with legal and governance and stock management.
Not through the apprenticeship. But the Co Op likes to engage the local communities on charities and projects etc.
Yes
Company with good ethics behind them. I believe they are doing the right thing at the moment. Through fairtrade, charities (£18 million pounds) its a lot of money to give straight to projects. Ethics on decisions they make sometimes against the trend of other competitors.
Its a company that involves everyone on their decision making. So, team playing is vital. If you play your cards right and have hunger to progress, go for it. There will be someone at headoffice that will listen to you.
