The Core Infrastructure Expansion (CIE) team are responsible for the physical environment and installation of new equipment, upgrades and decommissioning, as well as the on-site connectivity within the Core network. CIE key responsibilities include: Early engagement for planning delivery of projects, planning the delivery of physical infrastructure to support project delivery, environmental management of live core sites, implementation of Business as usual changes (BAU) within live sites, vendor management – working with approved suppliers to support project delivery, decommissioning of physical infrastructure and asset generation database implementation (AICC).
I have developed the skills I already have, such as communication skills. I have also learnt new skills, including how to put a planning file together as this is a fundamental part of the team. Other skills I've developed include my own personal organisation because I feel it is important to stay on track and stay in control.
I am enjoying the programme. The role I am employed in is challenging because there are several different aspects to the team that need to come together in order for us to work efficiently and effectively. There is always plenty to learn and everybody in the team is happy to help.
I feel the organisation of the Apprenticeship could be better. When I first started I heard nothing from the provider for a month or two so was unsure what was happening. When I did finally receive contact, the information I received from the provider was staggered and unclear, making it hard to understand.
I receive plenty of support from my employer. During my first 3 months I worked within the Workflow area of my team and the team leader was always happy to help me with any questions I had. This was the same for planning, they are happy to sit with me and help me with the work.
The support I receive is good and my Learning Development Coach is on hand to help anytime. I am able to email him with any queries and we have a monthly call to discuss how my work is going and for me to be able to ask him any questions.
I am not sure they both align completely. Some of the work I do for the apprenticeship, I have not come across in my day to day work duties.
Yes, if I wanted to I could play football on a Wednesday afternoon with other colleagues and there are similar initiatives like that
Yes
It is a good place to work, my team is helpful, they are quite flexible and welcoming
Go for it!
