As a first year apprentice we spend 5 days a week at college training and learning technical skills to not only perform in the workplace, but become multi skilled and competent in a number of areas. We divide our time between practical work and theory to complete each unit.
I have developed a lot of skills and learnt useful new skills which have made me much more confident in industry.
I have massively enjoyed the programme so far as it is a big change and an amazing opportunity. Working with 28 other apprentices has creating a great working and social environment.
As the apprenticeship programme just moved to a different college, the organisation and structure is not as good as expected. However, I am noticed the programme is beginning to run smoother and future courses will run much better as they assessors will be well practised.

We receive great support from our employer as there is always someone to contact if necessary. We also have reviews with our employer to track our progress and we visit the training centre in Hull every month.
We get a lot of support from the college as we are here all our time there. The assessors give great support and make certain you are not struggling.
The college gives us good base competency through the different units we cover so we are multi skilled. Some of these units will help with our job role but we will learn most of the skills needed on site.
There are a lot of extra curricular activities at college and Siemens Gamesa have even asked us to do Duke of Edinburgh gold which I am looking forward to.
Yes
Brilliant company to work for with a lot of opportunity. You feel very valued even as an apprentice and you are well looked after.
Make sure you show that you can work well in a team of people and are comfortable working practically.
