Store manager, involves leading the team, meeting KPIs, training, coaching, ensuring the store is legally trading. Leading the way through changes and advancements. Creating staff rotas, authorising holiday and leave. Dealing with short term and long term sickness. Providing good customer service, and leading the team by example. Ensuring company policies and procedures are adhered to, and that all colleagues are aware of the importance of this.
The program has helped me to develop my confidence in myself and helped me communicate to my superiors more clearly and confidently. It has helped me open doors to other parts of the business. It has helped me to guide my colleagues more clearly through developing themselves. It has allowed me to meet with colleagues from other areas of the business to gain an insight into their day jobs.
I enjoy the opportunities the apprenticeship programme has and will continue to give me. It allows me to develop myself and gives me the opportunity to network and develop my career. I have enjoyed working with my trainer, who has encouraged me to develop myself and provided excellent support where needed.
The programme is well structured with set modules every month. There is a meeting with my trainer every month to check up on my progress. With three group training sessions throughout the programme. I feel that it has been organised well and the workload is evenly split across the programme.
We are provided with eight hours a week in which we can spend completing any tasks or research that is related to the qualification. This time can be spent outside of store, or in another store. I can approach my manager for help or support if and when I need to.
My tutor has always been available when needed, and has set up regular meetings. He has provided help and guidance towards each of the modules. He is very knowledgeable and has given me confidence in being able to complete the programme to a very high standard. Unfortunately he is leaving the company, and I hope the new trainer is just as good!
It has given me a lot of confidence to perform better in my role. It has given me the ability and time to be able branch out into other departments to gain extra knowledge and to help me in choosing and developing my career path. It gives me the opportunity to know my role fully inside and out.
There are various networking meetings held throughout the country across the different departments within the business. There are events such as international womens day, international mens day, mental health day. All involving get togethers where colleagues give accounts of their own experiences.
