As an IT technical apprentice i have to do sales training and have to be on the phones every now and then where i have to help our customers with any queries and if we are not able to help we need to find the right help for them or transfer them.
i have learnt a lot about myself and skills that i didn't know i had. personal skills and corporate skills too, like speaking skills to technical skills. We went to the lake district to do a team building week but also to learn more about ourselves , this is where i found out so many things about myself and skills i need to develop or bring back to work.
i really enjoy the programme as there isn't a day where i don't learn something new or don't feel included in the company. We are always meeting new people around the company and learning new things from different vendors or just day to day tips like on the computer or with customers.
The programme is very really well organised by our manager where she always find something for us to do and organizes everything according to our learning styles and personalities. This has helped me as it meant i have never got bored or felt like i was not enjoying the programme.
100% support. Our manager is amazing and is always there to help and support us to personal problems to work problems. Always checking up on us and seeing if we are up to date with work and still enjoying our apprenticeship. Our manager also helps us get a good name for ourselves around the company and how to network around.
Monthly face to face meeting to talk about progression and if we are facing any problems that they can help us with. they also have to go through safeguarding with us , which means they always have to check we are safe and happy in our job role and at home.
the training sessions have helped me in role due to it be sales training and how to deal with customers, also doing theory has helped in the sense of getting things done on time and clearly seeing my own progression. we have had to put some of our natural sessions into practice when we have had to do focus days , and it means we were more prepared.
i personally haven't got involved in any yet but there is plenty of things to do like the social club where you can get discounts on events and you can go with family and fried or colleagues. i am very open to using social club if something comes up that sparks an interest.
Yes
I have already recommended Tech Data to some of my friends as i think it is such a good company for young people to start their career as the support you get from the company is amazing! they will never let you struggle alone. which makes the company such a friendly , welcoming and fun place to work.
Top tip from me would be just be yourself and be confident in yourself as they don't look for perfect people they look for people that they think have potential so just show an interest but also show that you are determined to better yourself in your career and want to work hard for it.
