Installing new and fixing faults on existing telephone lines.
The job was completely new to me when I started. I have learnt telecommunications engineering specific skills. Furthermore, I have been able to develop my people skills by interacting with customers on a daily basis.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme as it allows me time to fully understand all aspects of my new role; especially with the guidance of the NVQ assessor.
Extremely well organised. We have set study days so that we can benefit from guided learning. Also, the modules are well laid out and easy to follow.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. Specifically, they encourage focus on NVQ work during any down time, as well as allowing us to work solely on our NVQ during any absences from the normal work stack.
Plenty. As previously mentioned, we have guided study days (a minimum of 10 across the duration of the NVQ). Furthermore, our NVQ assessor is only every an e-mail or a phone call away and encourages us to approach him with any queries or concerns.
I feel that it helps me to perform at my best. It allows me to have a full understanding of best practice and what is expected of me. It ensures that I am fully skilled, capable and confident of myself and my abilities to carry out my job to a high standard on a daily basis.
Yes. My manager has arranged social events so that we can get to know our team and have a better relationship with the people that we work with on a daily basis
Yes
Since working for Openreach I have been supported fully in both training and when out in the field. There is plenty of support and encouragement with the focus on getting things right before achieving any goals related to productivity.
Be open and honest and willing to learn. Openreach will be fully supportive of you from the outset.
