I don't just help customers find and book their dream holiday but i also have to deal with the admin of these booking. For example, emails, amending bookings, taking payments, adding holiday extras. I also participate in helping run the foreign exchange bureau in store. Along with my role i have to complete a training pack to complete my apprenticeship.
I have learnt numerous new skills within my job role and also developed myself as a person. For example i can confidently make holiday bookings with no assistance, deal with cash/card payments safely and securely, sell foreign currency. I have built my confidence massively since being in the company due to receiving the amount of support i have.
I love my job and my stores environment. We all work as a team and help each other where needed. I enjoy my job simply because it is never repetitive unlike some other jobs. I love booking customer's dream holidays knowing they have left the store happy with what they have booked. Knowing my customer's feel they can approach me with any questions or query anything with myself is a good feeling. Gaining the customer's trust is a priority.
I have regular meetings with my mentor and he is also available to phone/email if i am stuck with my training. Within my hours at work i will have a set amount of allocated study time each week. All my colleagues in store are very supportive and make sure i get the time to complete my work. My manager in store is also very supportive and feel he will push me to do my best.
I receive a massive amount of support from my mentor and know he is easy to contact where needed. My manager and colleagues in store are also a massive support and make sure i get the time to complete my work to the best of my ability.
I do enjoy completing the work to receive my qualification as most of it i have learnt on the job and i use my real experiences as examples. If i am struggling i can contact my mentor if i know we do not have a scheduled meeting soon.
At the beginning of my apprenticeship i had no knowledge of travel at all and after completing the relevant training's i could now talk about majority of the world with confidence. Working towards my qualification lets me see how much i have achieved as i use these as examples.
As a company TUI offer apprentice days to support us towards our training and for all apprentices to get to know each other and help one another. We also have apprentice educational's to grow our knowledge. We have also not long started apprentice conference calls.
Yes
I feel TUI has helped within my job role as much as they can and offered support when needed. The company has also helped me grow as a person and achieve so much at young age.
In regards to the application process be confident and have a passion for travel and tourism if you don't then the job is not for you. I would have liked to have known the amount of work that was expected from me to complete my apprenticeship. I know it will be worth it though.
