On a day-to-day basis I often carry out cost value reports on schemes which have been carried out the day before. I also produce reconciles on these schemes. I also carry out cost and value reports and produce targets and with the help of my mentor, produce final accounts.
I have learned many new skills in my role on systems such as excel. Every day I am learning something new related to my job role and I am already familiar with a lot of the basic duties of a quantity surveyor. My confidence in general is improving every day.
I really enjoy the programme I am doing, I look forward to going to university every week and learning new tasks in the work place.
Very well organised, there is a lot of information available to help guide me.
I am always able to ask my colleagues for help when I am stuck, whether this be on university work or on work relating to my job role.
There is plenty of support from my training provider, we take part in regular meetings to monitor progress and I feel confident to ask questions when I am not sure on something.
My qualification helps me learn the knowledge I am required to possess in my role but also helps me develop confidence through things such as groupwork and discussions in class, which in term also helps develop things such as teamwork and collaboration.
I am currently on a programme in work which helps develop a number of skills, from teamwork to presentation skills, this is really helpful.
