As a telecoms engineer I install and repair phone lines and internet on a daily basis
Yes I have learnt lots of new skills
I did not enjoy the nvq experience whatsoever, I found the coursework tedious and irrelevant in many situations. I found it difficult to get useful feed back from my assessor and felt that a lot more could have been done to enhance and simplify the whole experience. The practical side of the nvq was adequate however (buddying etc)
I found the programme to be poorly structured and believe a lot more practical work would be beneficial as oppose to the written work that was a lot of the time not applicable to the job role.
I found the support to be lacking, Nvq sessions were cancelled due to work stack being high, replacement days were not given until after my end of year date. I had to email my assessor multiple times to try and ensure that my Nvq was completed on time, which it was not.
I don't believe I had any support from my training provider.
The nvq I received is crucial to the role of a telecoms engineer but I believe a more practical approach to the training would be beneficial.
