I am a signalling engineer apprentice and on a day to day basis is im not in in the classroom learning the signals I am out in my depot learning on how to imply the theory to the real world of signals on the tracks.
I have learnt new electrical skills and how the signals work using relays energising and de-energising.
I really enjoy the programme as not only being in the class room we are also out on the track fixing faults and doing maintenance on the signals.
The apprenticeship programme is well organised in terms of travelling to and from the class room based learning which can sometimes be over 100miles away.
The managers are really helpful as they tend to fill in the gaps as to where I might have forgotten any information about.
The training provider is excellent in providing extra support as they have a after work class for student who need to catch up or need support with work.
I am more of a hands on learner and I work well and remember the information more when the job which you are learning about is in front of me.
At network rail we have a social club as one weekend in the month we will go out together and just chill out.
Yes
it is the best company to work for and they provide all the support if you are stuck with anything.
If you don't get the job the first time you apply, Apply again and again until you get the job with network rail as it is a excellent company to work for.
