Completing care needs for a patient and developing my clinical skills and assessments.
Yes, I have learnt new medication administration skills and the ways to escalate care within a hospital setting as well as developing documentation recording using professional language.
I enjoyed my programme within the trust setting but didn’t enjoy the uni days as found conflicting information between staff and becoming disorganised.
Some aspects are well organised in theory however, when put into practise there is often a brake down in communication and left not knowing needed information including shift pattern for the following week. And at times which rooms and plan for uni even on the day.
When asked for support regarding confirming shifts none was offered and pushed back to myself so would say little support was given. No other time did I ask for support from my line manager,
When needed support was given over email with advice
I have not yet been able to put my qualification into practise yet as an independent nursing associate so unable to answer question
No there is no extra curricular activities and as I move around every 10 weeks I don’t build a work friendship group.
Yes
Being able to get a foundation degree on route to becoming a fully qualified nurse whil uni is being paid and getting a salary is a rare benefit so would recommend for benefits but explain that it’s not a smooth journey.
Be prepared for a rough journey with frustrations and irritation but keep focused on end goal.
