Yes - my on the job training is more enhanced then my academic studies. I tend to learn and gain experience from the wealth of knowledge within my team.
My work colleagues/team are extremely supportive and encourage me to undertake new tasks and push my ability. They set high expectations and targets.
I personally feel that the apprentice scheme as a whole is ok. I have little if any, interaction with our company head office Learning and Development team, which is a shame.
As previously mentioned, i barely see or am contacted by our head office learning and development team and I depend heavily on my line manager and my current team. There should be a structured catch-up once a month with face to face interactions.
I personally dislike my place of academic study as there are others students who are disruptive and show no desire to learn and the quality of lectures can be shocking at times.
For my current project (rail) the whole first year and majority of second year so far are completely irrelevant and it makes it difficult to see the benefits of undertaking the degree.
My work always hold social events at least once a month to keep team morale and help build strong working relationships. We have a strong drive both at project level and company level in regards to volunteering and community engagement. Especially Diversity, Inclusion , Equality and STEM.
