  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Technical Business Analyst current working on client site in a very large business. Working in a multidisciplinary team amongst Testers, Developers, Dev-ops and Business Analysts. Providing overall support to the team whether that be understanding complex issues within components and demands set from Product Owners, and simplifying tasks by breaking them down into tickets that the Dev's and Testers can carry out. Also understanding architecture of how different components work alongside each other so that diagrams can be drawn with potential bugs and blockers being highlighted before the development stage. Understanding the importance of analytics and monitoring dashboards in order to raise problems as soon as they come in, to reduce the wider impact of the public.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy coming to work, as I am excited about the career ahead of me and the opportunities that will arise. I am constantly pushed to be the best I can be and have support everyday in order for me to develop and grow in my role. I would thoroughly recommended this to anybody looking to get a head-start in their career or another option instead of going to University.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very structured. I have an assigned buddy, coach, dean and project manager in my role. The community of Brightstarts is very well supported within the senior leadership teams and my university aspect is also very well structured. I work for 7 weeks and attend un i for 1 week. This process lasts 3 years then I receive a full degree with 3 years industry experience.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support. There are endless opportunities to speak to people, whether that be in my project or in the community. I also receive support for the university side of my job. We have an assigned representative from uni that has regular catch-ups, with my project manager checking in with me every 2 weeks.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have quarterly reviews from our university, where they talk about how we feel and if there is any support they can offer in order for us to do the best we can do. There are many different lecturers that constantly offer support outside of the week of university too.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The coding side of my role has helped me understanding aspects when talking to the developers in my project. We also practise presenting, which is something I find difficult but it has definitely made me more confident. I feel as though the qualification helps me in role and is very well aligned.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are endless events, clubs and communities to join. When joining, you will have a huge list to pick things that may interest you. From Rugby, football, to professional networking events with colleagues, to joining the LGBTQ+ community. In a company with nearly 300,000 people there is something for everyone.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it offers a head-start in your career, as you gain industry experience, huge networking opportunities and is a great alternative to Uni. I personally wanted to get a degree but didn't want to attend Uni. So getting a full time job while getting a professional qualification is a win win.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Just be yourself. Deloitte look for people from any background and there are so many opportunities. There are many different service lines whether that be in Tech, Risk Advisory, Audit, Accounting and many more. The opportunity to develop and be yourself is a really nice feeling, as bringing your real self to work is something that shouldn't be taken for granted.
