  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Managing staff and managers to ensure great customer service is delivered to our customers in line with company targets. From the apprenticeship there is many tasks to complete Weekly tasks set by the tutors, reports and assignments that are starting to become more frequent. Communication is regular with tutors and skills coaches

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Many internal training courses whilst in work. Academic theory and thinking behind certain systems. As it is only early in the programme there is still much to learn, sections around the different modules that we have to evidence work on onefile will prove valuable over the next couple of years.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Challenging to begin with as being out of education took a while to get used to but now it seems to flow more i enjoy the learning. Work seem to have taken some time to get on board with the off the job learning section, some more communication from MMU and our head office would be helpful

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Induction was very informative but seemed confusing, again as being out of education for a while it was intense and could of been better explained in more lamens terms until we understood it. Some of the tasks give you conflicting instructions, being asked to give one example of something and then in feedback being told to use more examples. Little frustrating Support seems like there is no end to the people that you can turn to, skills coach feedback was helpful and supportive

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Personally now i have had a more in depth chat with my boss i am receiving more time to compete tasks. From speaking to others it doesnt seem like there is a clear uniformed time given to all apprentices even though working for the same company. More forceful guidelines should be set out by our head office to regulate the time

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Always there with guidance via email and phone. Slightly could be dismissive on one occasion when asking for help which sounded a little like a hardship but on the whole guidance and support has been good. Mix of tutors can sometimes be confusing as group is split in two and crossed over.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • At the moment i wouldnt say that it has a massive impact as only being at the beginning. I am quite experienced in role at the moment although the theory and thinking towards things that go on behind the scenes at a head office level i have become more aware of

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Some company events but these seem to be reducing due to finance. Due to the nature of our role we get moved locations often so social can be difficult before getting to know people. There are community clean up events that happen but they are voluntary and time constraints restrict this

    8/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Good place to work with good flexibility to a personal life. Company has always looked after me over the years from my experiences with recognition events being paid for and other social functions. Pay has always been competitive within its sector and the bonus scheme for my role is good

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
  • Be as outspoken as possible and try to think as a customer. OJE for crew members is about seeing how you react with customers so dont just stand tense, you need to be relaxed. There is great opportunities for progression if you apply yourself and have good common sense for general tasks
