Main tasks involve managing access for Barclays applications. We have many different methods of doing this but throughout the day I mainly use outlook to email and keep track of meetings and webex to host and join meetings
I have learnt a lot of new business skills such as managing large workloads and emailing in a professional manner and also built on existing skills such as presenting and communication skills
The programme is enjoyable but can also be stressful at rimes with high workloads at work and at university. I would say that most of the time it is enjoyable
The programme seems very well organised with many different staff who are able to assist with any issues as well from university and from work so it does feel well structured
I have a meeting with my manager every two weeks to discuss about the apprenticeship. I also have regular meetings with the university tutor liaison and employers liaison as well.
University has a lot of lecturers who are useful on the university days but i feel as though there is not a great understanding between student and tutor as with normal uni students. That could be because we only go to uni once a week
Most of the things at uni do not link specifically to my job role currently because i do not have a technical role. However, the business side at university does link heavily with what i do and the team that i work with.
At work there are many activities to be involved in. I was involved with a weekly football team at work. There are also lots of planned networking events that i have attended
Yes
Barclays is a well organised and tightly knit company with a great sense of cohesion. I feel as though fitting in and excelling at your job role is very easy at Barclays and progression is an achievable target.
I would suggest that they research the company and ensure that they understand the companys values and what the business does.
