In my job role i do procedure reviewing based on policies created. After reading the policies I then review the procedure to align them to the policy. The result of this would lead to amending, deleting and creating new procedures for the processes the bank does. This is to make sure everything is up to date.
In my role I have gained a lot of skills ranging from communication in meetings. Very useful to be able to articulate my words to get my point across. To also enhancing my eye for detail to spot errors in the procedures which I review at work on a daily basis.
The work experience is good and I genuinely feel like I am learning and gaining invaluable knowledge which I can use in this role or others if I choose to leave the bank one day. However I do not feel my apprenticeship is suited to me as I am no longer customer facing.
In my own personal experience and communication with others in my academy we do not feel it is structured well. Our coach has not really given us much information and we fill in whatever modules on the online hub but they don't contribute to the actual work experience we do.
From my employer I get a good level of support when it comes to completing my work in my job role. For me it is very project based and meeting deadlines when having to communicate with multiple people from different departments can be difficult. However they understand and they are willing to help.
Not much as I have raised concerns over my apprenticeship to say I am not doing a customer facing role yet the apprenticeship is based on this they were unable to help. So I feel as I do not benefit fully from this as I do not do what the apprenticeship is aimed for.
As I have stated before I am not in a customer facing role for my apprenticeship therefore I do not feel it benefits me at all in my current position. The information I would require does no get covered therefore in my personal opinion and I have raised this to my talent coach that it is not suited for me.
There are volunteering days offered by the bank to go help different communities. There are various options available. These days are paid for by the bank and everyone gets 2 a year. We also had a work Christmas party which was lovely to see everyone outside of the workplace in a great environment.
Yes
I believe it is a good place to work with some opportunities for growth. The other employees are fantastic and going through the academy you can really make some fantastic friends that you will go through your HSBC journey with. The managers are helpful and the benefits are also great.
I would tell them to be open minded as different roles can be offered once you start the job itself that you would not be expecting. I would also tell them to not be shy and everyone is friendly and approachable. We are all trying to help one another succeed.
