In my role I investigate and mitigate concerns regarding financial crime and suspected criminal behaviour. This involves research companies, analysing their behaviour and assessing the risk that their activity may pose to the bank and the wider community. Every Thursday I have a study day dedicated to completing work towards the Degree course and towards the Level 6 professional qualification through Kaplan. The course also involves regular check-ins with a Line manager, Apprenticeship manager and Talent coach to help with personal development and progression.
I have learnt new skills to develop both my self and my performance including how to effectively network and build lasting working relationships, how to communicate effectively with different stakeholders, how to better analyse and process information and how to conduct myself in a professional manor, all of which will prove invaluable in the future. The course also give me opportunity to personally develop skills of my choice through an abundance of methods all of which are made easily available through the business and the training providers.
All aspects of the programme are thoroughly enjoyable from networking with new individuals across the business to tackling the daily challenges that arise from financial crime investigation. The course also involves a lot of traveling allowing me to explore different parts of the country, different offices and different business areas which also provides insight into different roles within the business. The range of courses that I attend as part of the course are also very interesting allowing me not only to learn new things but also to learn things about my self.
The programme is excellently structured with the structure of the whole 4 year programme having been delivered to me in the form of an excel and PowerPoint presentation. This has allowed me to plan everything around the key dates provided and allow me to know exactly where I need to be on each day. The programme structure also allows me to see the job role progression along with the progression in the difficulty in studying. the degree course is also all mapped out with the pre determined modules and module dates given to us.
My employer has two monthly 1-2-1's in which my progress is discussed. One of these is with my Line manager and one with my Apprenticeship manager which is focused purely on my progress and development. I am also able to contact either of these mangers with any problems I encounter or any to enquire about developing any areas that I wish to improve in.
I have regular updates with lecturers who are able to answer and queries I may have regarding the degree course. We also have regular webinars and lectures in which questions are welcomed to ensure full understanding of everything being taught. I also have a monthly catch up with my talent coach at Kaplan who ensures I am on track an dwell prepared for all academic assessments.
My qualification is very relevant to my current role and gives me a more systemic overview of the sector I work in exploring the importance and implications of various systems put in places by banks. This also allows me to learn the theories from which these systems are based and learn about prior examples of when system have failed.
The team has regular team time to socialise with colleagues outside of the office. There are also multiple courses available to learn more about different roles within the business and to network with others across the bank. The training providers also offer extra curse to help support learning or to further knowledge.

HSBC is a supportive, connected and forward-thinking company that provides a great working environment along with an abundance of opportunities to individuals. The programme as a whole is also very well structured with available support of any kind there for personal development. My experience at the company so far has been nothing but positive
