  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time ar Solenis, I acquired a forklift truck license. I will be getting my VNA license shortly. I have learned about the effects different chemicals can have on us and the environment and also the hazardous symbols so I know what I'm handling and how to handle it safely.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the course I am currently on as no two days are the same, there are plenty of different roles within the warehouse which I am or will be getting trained up for. I also enjoy the programme because I don't have to go to college on a weekly basis, I go on set days.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme I am currently on is very well structured, I have never been left without something to do to work on my getting my NVQ. I have a manager, mentor, SWO, shift manager, and I have experienced colleagues so I am very well supported and guided towards completing my NVQ.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive lots of suport from Kirklees College. My tutor Alex Domun is very experienced in warehousing and so he is able to understand some of the issues I may have and can support me and guide me through my NVQ. He has explained to me how he can help me if anything goes wrong at work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The days at college that I have are very helpful in my role at work as we have done multiple days on safety at work and how to work smarter, he even helped me to learn about the different hazardous symbols and what they mean as well as their effects.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is a sports and social club available to join, they get together often and go to different events that are on outside of work. They have their own football team which is good for team building, they get reduced prices on any events such as go karting or various artists concerts.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Solenis to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a very good employer, a globally recognised employer that provides all the equipment I need to succeed and gain my NVQ. Solenis puts the safety of its employees and the environment first to ensure that everyone on site is happy and healthy. Every single day is different, you will never get bored of working here.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Solenis?
  • I would advise that they research into the company, what products we make, where our products go, what the products do. The more you know about the company the more you understand when you get hired as an apprentice. Learn the hazardous symbols and their effects, research everything you can. If your'e lucky enough to get an interview be confident, everyone on site is very friendly and wants to know about you.
