Project Manager in the digital portfolio. Managing the day to day running of 2 projects, through facilitation of daily/weekly meetings, managing plans and deliverables and ensuring standards are met.
Yes I have learnt a wide range of PM skills that I have been able to apply to my role, from effective planning to risk and issue management. I have ben able to use some of the theory and apply it in m day to day meetings such as people / stakeholder management.
I have enjoyed learning about topics that I have previously not had much experience in such as procurement. It has given me a wider perspective and helped me contextualise the project manager role. I have also been able to implement some of the information/skills learnt in a recent project where I was introduced to procurement.
The apprenticeship is reasonable well structured. However it would have been really helpful to have this communicated effectively at the beginning to set expectations and understand which tasks to prioritise. However since my talent coach was changed I have found it a much more transparent process and have been better informed.
My employer has been really good both providing me time to complete the apprenticeship and also offering support where needed. I have however struggled with time to focus on my apprenticeship as there is a large volume of work involved and my preference is always to prioritise my project over my apprenticeship.
I have been on the day workshops and attended the 3 day revision/ exam workshops which were very useful. I have also logged on ILX to complete all the learning modules, however have not had that much support from my mentor for the exam. The 3 day revision course was most definitely the most useful of all the tools.
I think it is good to have the qualification and it definitely looks good on your CV. However as I am already in a PM role, I am not sure to what extent I would say that I have really learnt above and beyond my role. There is a lot of theory and depending which organisation you work for, the expectation of how you approach a project is not always realistic.
Yes we have several sports and social clubs, there is a site wide club offer tickets and activities and then there is also a department one, which encourages team build, with organised events ranging from a day at the races to escape rooms. We also have a health and wellbeing society.
Yes
It is a great place to work, with lots of support and plenty of career opportunities. You can really make as much of a career as you want and there are always lots of opportunities to develop from within the same department o a complete change in role. They also provide mental and well being support along with healthcare and share save.
Be honest, yourself, but prepare for your interview. Think about what you have achieved and where you want to be in the next 2-5 years. Consider what you stand for and whether your beliefs and values align with HSBC and what values and skills you could bring to the role.
