My role is to be a part of a financial reporting team. Every day we are creating financial reports for variety of clients. This also involves completing compilation workbooks, which allow us to see if all the amounts in our report are correct and matching to management accounts.
Working everyday with qualified accountants enables you to expand your accountancy knowledge day by day. As soon as I became good at a certain task, more challenging tasks are given to be. This allows me to challenge myself and become more confident at my work.
I do enjoy my programme. Colleagues are always willing to help when needed which helps you gain knowledge quicker. Its a new experience which is worth having.
Overall, the programme is very well organised. You get study days or college days to make sure you gain the knowledge needed. However, College days do restrict you on when you can take your holidays.
We do receive a lot of support. Each person has assigned a counselling manager which you can share all the good things as well as issues that you are experiencing with. Colleagues are also always happy to help you when needed.
Training provider makes sure that you get the training required from you employer and keeps up to date on your development by having regular phone calls with your talent coach. You get a talent coach assigned which makes sure you are able to progress and that you are aware of everything related to your course.
My qualifications enables me to complete more tasks at my job, as you receive the knowledge needed. The knowledge you gain is very helpful as it enables you to develop more at the company.
There are not many extra-curricular activities. However, from time to time we do get socials organised.
Yes
As I think it enabled you to develop into a great accountant. You are working with people who have many years of experience and who are able to guide you when needed.
My advice when applying to BDO is to not stress about the application process. It is important to show you personality during the interview as well your passion for this job. Make sure you prepare yourself for the interview. It is good to show that you are organised and that you know what you are talking about.
