My role is to maintain all machinery and production lines at the Beckton site. I am studying mechatronics level 2 at south essex college and I go to college Monday to Friday. I am learning maintenance techniques which can be used in the workplace in order to improve production time.
I have learnt many new skills, currently I am working at college full time but I have been partaking in work on mills, laves and drilling machines. I have learnt many bench fitting techniques and I have improved on my filing and sawing. At work on the beckton site at Britvic I have learnt how to change components on the production lines such as bushes on the blowing machines and bottle holders which clamp the bottle lids in order to carry them round the lines. Each day I learn new skills and once I am on site I will learn even more!
I enjoy my programme to an overwhelming extent. Britvic have exceeded any expectations in which I had before beginning my apprenticeship. They have provided me with help whenever I have needed it and they have taught me many new skills which I never thought I had! I cannot wait to qualify as an engineer with Britvic.
The apprenticeship programme at Britvic is extremely well organisation and structured. I started my apprenticeship on 28th August 2019 and am expected to complete it in 4 years time after that date. I have always been informed as to what is expected of me and what is expected of the employer!
I receive a great amount of support from my employer. When and if I need any extra support I know exactly who to inform and how to get the support needed. If I am unsure or need more knowledge nobody ever hesitated to help me out. I am always speaking to those who give me support
I receive a lot of support from my training provider when I am working towards qualifications. Whenever I need help or support there is someone that I can ask for advice or I can ask for them to give me some of their knowledge. I receive feedback on all of my work which I do.
In practical lessons we completed both electrical and maintenance work. Focusing on all the techniques and methods needed to become a great maintenance engineer. In college I study mechatronics level 2 and I am doing btec maths and btec health and safety in my first year of full time college.
Yes there are some extra-curricular activities which Britvic present to all engineering apprentices and qualified engineers. For example, all the Britvic apprentices went to the Outward Bound trust in the Lake District to participate in many team building and sporting activities for the whole week. It was great fun. We also go for a PLC workshop which also helps build team relationships outside of work.
Yes
I would recommend Britvic to a friend because they always put their employees first. They always focus on their needs and if any of their employees need support and help then they will do their best to provide the necessary support. All those that are working at Britvic and involved with the company are welcoming.
When applying for an apprenticeship at Britvic, prepare for the interview before hand. Make sure to research the company and show the interviewers how interested and committed you are to the role in which you are applying for. Ensure that you understand the role and what Britvic expect of you. Also analyse the Britvic behaviours.
