  • During my apprenticeship i have attending a training course on process safety, increasing my knowledge of chemical disasters, and how to prevent them. • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the programme has a very good structure. There are three apprentices doing similar things, and over the course of the apprenticeship each apprentice will gain experience in each area. There is a rotation that has been put in place to allow this. The training provider is also structured well, supplying us with study materials each week.

  • The tutors are very helpful. I know i can phone or email them whenever if i have a problem and they will be there to help me. • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The information that i learn on my apprenticeship through my training provider helps me greatly on a day to day basis. I have been on the apprenticeship for ~5 months and i have already applied things that i have learnt into practice in my job role. I have not yet started learning about what i do at work in my apprenticeship from the training provider, but i know that this come in later years.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in. My company has a thing called "sports and social club". This is where employees cant get tickets for events a little bit cheaper, such as theater tickets or tickets to the races. any employee can do this and it helps build relationships between colleagues that might not normally socialise with each other.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Solenis to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They are a well established global company that is leading the way forward in the paper and water chemical business. they have potential to expand, and the way to do this is by taking on new apprentices. They have supported me so far with everything they can and I'm looking forward to spending a very long time with them.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Solenis?
  • If you are joining Solenis I would say you have to be open to new ideas. Also, its not as scary as it sounds working on a chemical plant. I would definitely suggest applying if you have an interest in chemistry and know it is what you want to do. Even if you don't have an interest in chemistry, you can still apply and soon enough you will probably like it.
