I am a junior in the audit department, which involves visiting clients to gain assurance over their financial statements before they are filed.
I have learnt a lot about audit in the first 6 months, as well as undertaking 6 exams to date, including law, tax, accounting etc. I have also gained a lot of experience in communicating with clients in a professional manner.
Having started the programme with an intake of about 10 trainees, it has been very enjoyable and we have quickly integrated into the audit team. The job is very rewarding.
The programme of exams and work experience is very well structured and we were made aware of the timetable for completing the qualification.
I have a counselling manager who is my first point of contact when I need support. The large team is also always willing to offer help as the situation arises.
The training provider checks in during the revision phases and provides teaching when we go to college. There is also a website and training materials which are invaluable.
The qualification is always relevant to our work so makes it easy to develop new skills and knowledge when on the job
There are frequent organised social activities and the team as a whole is very sociable. Networking events are made available and much of our training is undertaken with other BDO offices. There is also a football team.
