I Started at AlphaPlus as a Project Support apprentice while completing a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business and Administration. Upon completion of the apprenticeship I was offered a full time role in the company, and a pay rise to match. The company has supported me throughout my development/ education and make decisions on these based on my input.
I joined the company when I was 16 after completing my GSCEs and 3 years down the line I am still taking on more and more responsibilities as the weeks go. I had started out providing support to my colleagues and have developed into managing my own projects and being involved in multiple office related responsibilities.
I figured early on that I had no intention of staying on in the typical educational route (A Levels then Uni) and found the apprenticeship side of education suited both my needs and my wants. I'm currently doing a Degree in Digital & Technology Solutions which means I have to attend Uni 1 day per week, and I find this splits up my week and gives me the opportunity to meet people my age.
I was introduced to my job role over a number of weeks before taking on responsibilities, which allowed me to settle in. Internal seminars would take place every month to provide training and to give insight into colleagues job roles. Jobs are divided up between teams and relevant resources are dedicated to jobs depending on their requirements so I was able to provide support to multiple, wide ranging projects which helped make sure I wasn't doing the same tasks everyday.

I have to attend Uni 1 day per week and have an extra day on top of this to work on assignments and tests from the Uni. When every my workload is to heavy I am able to share responsibility which frees up time so I can dedicate it to my education.
Since starting the uni course I have received positive feedback from colleagues on work I have produced for them, partly due to how the work I do in Uni is relevant to the work I do for the company. I also develop new skills which allows me to take on new responsibilities and tackle current tasks more efficiently.
Each Christmas we go out, as a company, for a Christmas meal. Every now and then the core team at the company go out for a bite to eat and a drink, which acts a time to get to know people on a personal level. There is also a book club, if that's your thing.
Yes
I've been supported throughout my journey at AlphaPlus by both those at the top of the ladder, and also by peers and colleagues which sets the standard for how supportive the company is. I was never supported well in Secondary school and found I developed quite poor relationships with teachers, so by doing well I am able to prove them wrong and prove that I'm better than they had believed - so if they had pushed me to my potential I could have come out with better GCSE Results.
I was 16 when I interviewed for this job and found I was supported extremely well by the panel (Kath) so I took a lot of the pressure and anxiety of me so I was able to be myself. The company does not force you into an specific educational route later down the line, so you are able to shop around and chose which is very beneficial, as you can target your individual skill set.
