  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to help customers who are in financial difficulty by negotiating a resolution that will enable customers to get to a better position financially and emotionally via telephone. I look to put customers on a repayment plan and take payments as well.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Developing an understanding of a persons circumstance by asking relevant and important questions. Communicating with customers who may have difficulties for example mental health.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Time off the phones gives you a moment to reflect and take note of what you have been doing. Programme gives me knowledge of the overall take on banking which can help me during conversations as well as the banks procedures for collections.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My apprenticeship started very slow due to delays and also management not knowing the programme. I feel the programme doesn't give enough support as I have a review once a month with my talent coach. Time off the phone can be limited due to business needs.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Although support is always there by my manager and above, due to business needs, apprenticeship time can be pulled as it can get busy.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive support once a month and if I need extra support I do send an email or call my talent coach. As I come near to my exam, I have been receiving more support like revision and mock exams as well as one to one meetings.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification will give me more understanding for banking as it covers mortgages which I have not encountered with my job role. However I am unsure if it will help me progress in my job role.

  • There are always extra activities taking place every week at hsbc to get people to explore.
